A coating thickness meter used for steel as well as aluminium coatings. Designed to measure the thickness of a non-conductive coating on a metal surface and a non-ferromagnetic coating on a ferromagnetic metal, e.g. the thickness of paint on the surface of a car. The device has built-in magnetic induction and a dual probe with a high degree of sensitivity. It automatically detects the substrate property and calculates the coating thickness.

Every car bodyshop, Collision Repair Services or diagnostic station uses a tool called a Paint Thickness Meter to measure the thickness of the paint film. It is therefore most commonly used in the automotive sector, but is also used in metalworking, manufacturing, chemical industry, car washes or laboratories. This easy-to-use, handy and precise instrument does not damage the surface to be tested, you can apply the probe without fear and take the measurement, for example to check whether the car has been repainted, which is very helpful in assessing its actual value.

It is best to measure the thickness of the coating on a clean surface, so it is best to clean the area to be measured before starting the measurement and only then to apply or approach the probe tip to the paint. In addition to a dirty surface, a weak battery can also interfere with a reliable measurement result, so we recommend checking that the battery is in working order. A properly calibrated device is ready for measurement as soon as it is switched on.
